White space, then nothingness.  Black; a darkness beyond comprehension.  The domain of the Void, a place where neither description nor idea can survive.

Such was the argueable existence of the universe before it all began - before the Swarm.  Ideas began to collace into intangible walls:  the Impasses.  There is no story nor way to explain what began this masonry of thought; all that can be known for sure is that it was its own architect.  The Impasses organized the Void into an order in which Ideas could flourish and thrive; the Fortress Impentrable had been created. An Era had begun.

The Impasses created energy from the Void, the Fortress’s walls trapping a tiny portion of the Void inside.  The splitting of “the Void Entity” by the Impasses generated the first pocket energies that could be described, and such does Science have its roots here.  From those first energies, the Universe came into existence, for the energy could not be contained.  In the Void, space does not exist; time does not exist; and yet, a piece of it was split off.  Therefore, it is infinite in all meanings and uses of the word:  an infinite nothingness from which all springs forth.

The Universe came into existence, governed by the energies which came with it.  The Void Entity was gnarled and cramped from being isolated in the Impasses.  Its natural flow was to become infinite again and smooth out its bumps and wrinkles and return to beyond description once more.  Little did it know, however, that it could never have this again, for to reach infinite takes infinite; but such was the design of the Impasses:  to create an end for infinite.

The Entity could not be held contained, and so the Impasses that were the Fortress walls were broken and left shattered and strewn upon the Void.  As the Entity grew, the energies dispersed along its skin, the energies - attracted to one another by their own nature - began to collace themselves among the Ruins, for among the Ruins lay Ideas in dormancy - landmarks in a sea of nothingness.

The Ideas had been dispersed by the Fortress’s destruction, and the energies they had created would be their path to Unity once again, for infinite knows no end, but to try they always must, and each time they fail, they must regather and regroup to try again - for that is their nature.

The Ideas could be described as entities by some; others may call them the civilization from which all stems; a few may even call them “Gods” and worship their existence.  The Ideas are none of these things, yet their descriptions are suitable enough.  They are the Inherents in the Universe - inseparable from their own creation.  They are one half of two; the force that opposes the other.

The collacing energies reactivate the Ideas, but not all.  Some lay in far away Ruins, waiting to be rescued.  The energies scour the surface of the Void, instructed by the Ideas to light a beacon so that the Ideas may find each other and achieve Unity once more.

But, not all energies are equal in magnitude, and the beacons are never the same intensity.  Some Ideas are harder to see in the darkness than others, and through each cycle the list of the Dim are never the same.  No Ideas have ever been forgotten or left behind, but some must wait longer than others.

The Ideas, knowing that Unity is always a long wait each cycle - for the journey is long from beacon to beacon - designed the energies so that they exist with more complexity than is required for the task - overengineered, a fitting description - so that the Ideas would not have to suffer the Boredom.

Each cycle of Destruction and Unity, the energies are made more complex, more entertaining.  The energies are little more than playthings for the Ideas to observe in amusement and distraction.  But, one cycle, the energies behaved differently; they observed back at their creators, and became aware of more than their task.

None of the energies reacted the same, but all nevertheless did in some way.  Their reactions gave turbulence to the Void skin on which they travelled.  For the first time, there was chaos in the Void, a seeming impossiblity.
